My instagram feed recently has been full of people on 'teatoxs'
I won't lie I had never heard of a teatox before but i was slightly intrigued - anything with the words 'slim' and 'cleanse' is enough to capture my attention so when SlendertoxTea sent me a 14 day treatment to try out I was definitely interested in giving it a go

What do you do on a teatox?
Wait for it… drink tea. One cup in the morning and one cup every other night before bed. You’re encouraged to eat ‘clean’ and exercise during your teatox but other than that it's fairly staightforward.

    What's in the tea?
According to the packet, the Day tea contains: Hawthorn Grain, Red Bean, Sterling Bean, Radish Leaf, Camellia Seed, Camellia Flower, Green Tea, Fennel Seeds. All nice natural ingredients.

The night tea contains Valerian Root, Large Hawthorn, Red Bean, Sterling Bean, Green Tea, Radish Leaf, Camellia Seed, Fennel Seeds, Camellia Flower.

    How did you feel?
Being completely honest, the first 3 days were horrible! I felt like I had food poisoning, my stomach was in pieces....things were not good! I stuck with it though and my body started to get used to it after a few days and after a while I sort of forgot I was 'detoxing'

    Are there any sideaffects?
Yes. As mentioned before, headaches & stomach pains should be expected if you're planning to do a tea-tox. Also, in the least crude way possible - increased toilet trips will also be part of your experience...

    Did it work?
It's hard to say. I did lose a few pounds whilst on my detox and my stomach was noticably flatter - but I follow the 5:2 diet and I go to the gym 3-4 times a week so any weight loss can't be attributed solely to my teatox. I do think it had a contributing factor - being in the 'teatox'/detox mindframe sets you up to make healthier choices so I imagine when using it alongside a healthy diet and exercise you will see results. It will be interesting to hear if anyone has lost anything when using it in isolation....

    Would you do it again?
Possibly...I think I would probably try another 'teatox' if I was looking for a quick jump-start approach before starting a diet. Losing water weight is always encouraging and sets you up for sticking to a new eating/exercise plan but the side effects really are quite labourous to deal with. It really is better to just eat right and move a little more and not just look for the 'quick fixes'
