Aurora in Capri is one of those restaurants which forever sits on your 'must-visit' list.

It's loved by everyone from Jay-Z and Beyonce to Mariah Carey and Georgio Armani - and they cook the most INCREDIBLE Italian food.

The only catch? It's over 1000 miles away so...not exactly somewhere you can pop to on your lunch break.

Well for one week only, earlier this month, Aurora's head-chef was flown over to Ristorante Frescobaldi in London and I was lucky enough to bag myself a seat at the dinner table...

Ristorante Frescobaldi is a gorgeous little Italian restaurant tucked around the back of Oxford Street, away from all the noise and tourists...

It's owned by Tuscan winemakers the Frescobaldi family (who just happen to be one the oldest and most respected families in the whole of Italy) and they've created a dining room which just oozes with all the class and glamour of Tuscany.

The whole dining room is drenched in natural light which streams through the huge window-fronted restaurant and the interior is complete with a hand-tiled wall and flowers hanging from the ceiling. Super romantic!
Everything in the restaurant is made freshly in house by the team right down to the luxurious bottles of olive oil sitting on every table (and you know it's fancy when it's also stocked in Fortnum & Masons)...
Plus many of the wines on offer come directly from the families winery back home in Italy.
But the magic really happens when the food starts making its way to the table....

We started with an incredible Saffron arancini paired with a glass of Prosecco

So dainty to look at but packed with punchy flavour and a delicious crispy coating.
Next was an incredibly light and perfectly charred Octopus served with salad leaves, green beans and potatoes...

followed by several cuts of grilled squid and a creamy potato velouté.

Perfectly presented and just bursting with fresh, clean flavour.
This next dish though, this is the one you really want to try: Pappardelle with Black Truffle

I could've eaten several bowls of this alone - a perfect Autumnal dish exploding with creamy, earthy flavour, all washed down with a delicious glass of Chianti.
Fish lovers would adore our final savoury course, a perfectly cooked fish fillet topped with a potato crust and wilted spinach which reminded me of some kind of decadent hash-brown!

The perfect sized portion after all that incredible food and a wonderful taste of classic Italian cooking

Finally, our meal drew to a close with a generous slice of Caprese cake served with almond ice cream and an incredible light, burnt meringue.

While the incredible Aurora chefs have been and gone, Ristorante Frescobaldi hosts regular Guest Chefs throughout the year - for a period of up to two weeks at a time so keep your eyes peeled for their next event.

You can still visit to try their regular menu too. I promise you, the dining room and wine menu alone make it worth a visit (especially for a date!)
